Roderick butler  August 27,26  Identity    One part of my identity that travels with me everywhere is my family. No matter where I go, I carry the values and lessons they have taught me. My family reminds me where I come from and helps shape who I am.

About girl poem

Roderick butler  August 21,26  Girl poem  One gender expectation in my culture is that boys are supposed to always be tough and not show too much emotion. I remember feeling upset about something but keeping it to myself because I did not want people to think I was weak. This was difficult because sometimes I wanted to talk about how I felt, but I felt like I had to hide it. I learned that being honest about my emotions does not make me less strong

A time I felt lost

Roderick butler  August 17 26 Feeling lost    One time I felt completely lost was when I was struggling with a difficult assignment and did not understand what I was supposed to do. I felt frustrated because everyone else seemed to know what they were doing. Instead of giving up, I asked for help and took my time to understand the directions. After that, I felt more confident and realized that it is okay to ask for help when I need it.

Stereotype blog post

Roderick butler  August 24,26  Stereotype blog post  One experience I had was when someone assumed I was a certain way just because I am African American. They thought I would act a certain way or get into trouble because of stereotypes they had heard about Black people. At first, I was frustrated because they did not know me well enough to make that assumption. Instead of arguing, I stayed calm and showed them through my actions that their stereotype was wrong. It taught me that I should not let other people’s assumptions define who I am.
